Shellac where to find
Can anyone tell me if there are any salons in NYC or the 5 boroughs that carries it?? Anyone know of a salon with Shellac in Miami, Florida?
How can Miami not have any salons doing this amazing thing. Please help!!! I had it applied, aftrer 3 dsays it started wearing away at the free edge and my actual nails were chipping and fraying. I had to keep filing more of the nail off, leaving my nails very short. After 7 days lots of chipping and my nails looked aweful. Then the manicurist soaked my nails in acetone to remove the color.
It burned the whole time and my nails are now very tender. It did look very shiny initially but it is nothing more than a more expensive nail polish that is harder to remove. I had regular nail polish and china glaze top coat on before that lasted longer and I padi less for the manicure.
Interesting that you should say that. I hate to bad talk other colleagues but, I have to say that it must not have been applied correctly or it must not have been Shellac. Yes, this is how much I believe in Shellac. I had the shellac polish applied two weeks ago and I love it. It is beautiful. It is a little pricey, but so worth it. I am for the first time able to grow my own nails, and it is nice to get a manicure that will last.
I agree. It must either not have been Shellac or must not have been applied correctly. I am hooked! And, I did not have to soak in acetone. They applied a pad of nail polish wrapped in tin foil for about 5 mintues and Viola!
It all came off. Yeah, i also agree that it must have been applied wrong. Great product and clients LOVE it. The manicures really last over two weeks. Where can I find the cnd shellac nail polish for sale? Is there a Salon in New York City??? I just into the UV Gel nails and love them.
Now if I could just find the nail polish. San Jose, East Bay etc? The website would not come up but I really want to try this because I am super rough on my hand and regular polish starts shipping right after I put it on. Unheard of for me. However, i live in miami, and am still on the lookout for a salon there to maintain it.
It seems the main site was hacked or something. Easy to use and it lasts, with super shine! Check out our website…www. Call us at ! I know; at every salon I ask about it, they try to sell me on gel.
HI I am a nail salon owner in S. I am a licensed manicurist in Lafayette, Ca. In Miami you have to go to a resort or a nail school! Dixie Hwy, Miami, Fl. Thank you. Heaven on earth salon is offing the CND shellac services.. We are in Pittsburgh Pa.. Hope to see you there …. Now in Bradenton Fl!! You will be glad you did!! I am a licensed manicurist and I would like to find a beauty supply that carries the Shellac Nail products in or around Bremerton, Washington.
I have never seen it at our local beauty supply. Call today for your appt. It is the most amazing product that I have ever experienced but then again, I have never been disappointed with CND! My clients love it. And it still looks great, shiny, no chips, no peels. In the past I did acrylics but I hate tips and hate the heaviness. I was leaving on a business trip and needed nice nails. I may be addicted, the strength and no chipping is what I loved about acrylics but this feels like my natural nail.
By next week it will look a little weird I think. I would like more natural looking shades, lighter tints, neutrals, etc. Or a glittery black or gray. Try Layering — go and look at the website — it gives you color combinations that are different — one problem — you have to use more than the 2 coats to make it even! Good luck! I have been doing Shellac for over 4 weeks and its amazing! Let me know if you need it done. I have 17yrs exp in the nail biz! It really works and it is awesome. I love shellac!
Its been a week and they look great even with white tips i will continue to use it! I offer Shellac on fingers and toes. You can book with me at Love this product!

Experience the difference for yourself! Is there a location close to Canton, GA that offers this service? I am a licensed nail tech and started applying Shellac today. When I applied the white for a french manicure it bubbled or looked like it had touched a terrycloth towel.
Also, when I applied a dark color it pulled away from the cuticle and I had to go over it again before curing in the UV light.
I push back all cuticles, clean with scrub fresh then apply the base, 2 coats of color, and top coat. What am I doing wrong?
Any suggestions? Hi Pam! I wish I could be of more help. I suggest you contact your supplier or CND as I only wore the product to review it. The nail tech I go to is Tracy Smith. Their shop number is: or you can call Tracy direct on her mobile : She does a great job….. If anyone is in Scottsdale, Az I offer this service at Scottsdale Strands Salon or call me direct I went 20 days with Tutti Frutti and it still looked great.
I have a red on right now and it immediately started wearing away from the sides of the free edge. Lasts longer than a regular manicure natural nails but not sure how long I can keep them up because of the extra costs. I need to cut my appts. Getting the polish off is not fun. All in all, if you get a good nail tech and it is all applied correctly AND you can afford it — go for this over any of the other kinds of polishes.

We do have shellac base and top coat in stock 6 base and 15top coats Come visit us if you want to get yourself shellacked. Hi Eileen, Do you happen to work on evenings or Saturdays? And how much do you charge for a manicure with Shellac? I offer Shellac and this is the best product that any company has come up with in my 27 years of doing nails.
Call me to give it a try. You will love it! Also, do the uv bulbs make a difference in curing so long as you are using 36 watts? The Shellac soaks off much faster like 5 min and it soaks off in a much different way then color gels. Also I find that using cuticle oil daily- the more the better helps immensely with the wear of Shellac and it prevents any dryness the soak off process might cause.
Oh my God. I am back to the manicurist. I hated the fake nails that make your real nails like onion skin. This is awesome. My only problem is my manicurists colors. Not so good. I have been trying to buy some online to bring with me, but so far no luck.
I go here in Massachusetts. There are a lot of nail salons along this road, go to the right one. She is awesome. She gives the best pedicures too, she works on rubbing my legs for twenty minutes. I love it. I am in North Port, FL and need to finad someone who does shellac nails in the area. I have had this done in Mich and Ohio and can not go back to the old way.
Thank you Sally. We have it here in Pelham, Fonthill, Ontario. Sometimes lasts longer than the 14 days. Brentwood Blvd. Thanks Denise, dzine nails. Denise Sherman at Brook Hair Design phone number is not correct, it should be , sorry. My regular nail lady has been trying to get this product in her shop since it was launched. I feel that if this product was launched in may , why does it take soooooo loooooong to get to the professional salons?
The Midwest has just as much desire and need for the lastest products. Your company needs to keep up with supply and demand. Frustrated long time customer. I love my shellac nails, the salon that I frequent also does rockstars.
If I could upload a picture I surely would. Thumbs up for shellac. Can anyone tell me how to find out if it is done in Australia? Hope this is of some assistance! Judy, I just got the lamp today at Cosmoprof in Newmarket.. Hope it helps, you may even have it already :. I live in Toronto and there are a lot of places that have Shellac now. I think they can be reached at They did a horrible job and it started chipping and pealing after two days.
No chips, no smudges, great color. I have had shellac done twice. The first was last summer August and then just about 3 weeks ago again. It is absolutely amazing. I would have it done all the time except htat its a bit pricey. I am getting it done again tomorrow and only because of the growth of my nails and the gap now between my cuticles and the start of the colour.
Otherwise, it looks like the day I got it done. I am simply amazed at this product. You do not have to be a nail professional to do the Shellac. I purchased the UV light and the polish from Amazon and it was amazingly easy!
Anyone that currently paints their nails can do this! What wattage of UV light did you buy? What did you use to clean your nails before, and then to remove the stickiness after? Did you find out the wattage of UV light? Also, what to use to clean nails before and do you need to use a special remover wrap or simply cotton ball and acetone? I saw where you need to use SolarOil to keep nails and cuticles moisturized. I use an alcohol prep wipe used to prep you for a shot at your doctors office… it leaves no fibre residue and must be done to finish the cure.
You can also use rubbing alcohol on cotton ball. I offer Shellac-have been for several months! It is an amazing product! Several clients have switched from artificial nails to Shellac to let their nails grow out and have been very satisfied! Please call me to schedule an appointment if you r in Orange County-Costa Mesa area My clients Manicures last weeks. Really good prices. My salon offers personalized one-on-one services in an intimate setting in Redondo Beach, CA.
Please call I had a shellac manicure done at the Ichiban salon in Westlake. It was the best manicure I ever had.
It lasted over 14 days and was as shiny the entire time…. Price was very reasonable. Hey everyone in San Diego. I offer Shellac. Visit my site and give me a call to book an appointment. Check me out at franceesnails4shellac. I offer Shellac and have all colors available. Check out our website and give us a call at I have all 24 colors!!!
La mesa, California MaDonna. Hello everyone. The dry shellac will be "cut," or mixed with a ratio of denatured alcohol. Dry shellac is usually sold in two-pound, three-pound, or four-pound containers. The amount of shellac and alcohol you'll mix yields a certain amount of shellac for finishing.
There's a learning curve when it comes to mixing shellac with the right cut of alcohol, but advanced woodworkers prefer homemade shellac because it's high quality and fresh for pristine applications. You can apply premixed or homemade shellac by brushing it on or padding it on to wood. Brushing is the more common method of applying shellac. Brushing on shellac requires a fine, natural or china-bristle brush.
Use a two or three-pound cut of shellac and apply generously with long, smooth strokes. Since shellac dries quickly, be careful to avoid drips or blotchy areas when applying because unlike other finishes, you will likely not have time to over-brush to eliminate the blemish. Many woodworkers like to use a combination of brushing and padding. Apply the shellac with a brush, then immediately smooth it out with a piece of muslin. Use long strokes moving with the grain of the stock.
Padding on shellac is a bit more involved. To create the pad that you'll use for applying shellac, find a clean white sock and cut a clean piece of medium-weight cotton muslin, or a lint-free polishing cloth, into a inch square.
Before using padding to apply shellac, place the finish into a squeeze bottle with a fine tip for easy use. Squeeze a liberal amount of shellac into a sock, which acts as a reservoir. Wrap the piece of muslin around the sock, holding the edges of the fabric behind the sock. Begin applying by lightly squeezing the pad to allow a small amount of shellac to seep through the muslin. Add a small amount of lubricant, such as mineral oil, on the pad before application.
Mineral oil will not affect the final color or finish of your wood. If your pad seems a bit sticky as you're applying shellac, keep a small bowl with a little bit of mineral oil handy for light dipping. To begin applying shellac, quickly ease the pad on and off the surface to avoid any blotchy spots. Avoid placing the pad directly down onto the wood and rubbing. Work the pad in gentle, irregular patterns rather than only going with the grain.
Sanding is an effective method for removing the shellac finish, among other paint and varnishes from wood. Even though it is a tedious job, it is the best option, especially if you plan to refinish the piece of wood.
Sanding requires preparation and lots of patience. We recommend you work outdoors if you can. You also need to wear rubber gloves and protective clothing. You need to be extra cautious if you are handling antique wood.
Step 1: Wear wear rubber gloves, a mask, and long-sleeved clothing to protect yourself. Ensure your workstation is well-ventilated. Also, ensure you have every tool and material you will need to execute the task at hand. Step 2: Begin sanding using grit sandpaper—Wrap the sandpaper around the sanding pad. Then sand the piece of wood. This coarse grit will break and loosen every layer of shellac on the wood. Again, remember to sand following the grain of the wood.
If you opt for a random orbital sander, your work will be a lot easier compared to using hand sanding which is labor intensive. Set up your random orbital sander and begin sanding using grit. This option works best for flat surfaces such as tabletops. This random orbital sander has a vacuum attached to it: so as you sand, it collects the dust and spares you a dusty room. This means you use a little less effort, and you get to save a lot of time. Step 3: Wipe the loosened dust using a tack cloth.
If you are using a power sander, go straight to step four. Step 4: Sand the shellac on the wood further using grit sandpaper. This is for either the power sander or handheld sandpaper. This fine grit power tool helps eliminate any left-over shellac on the wood and smooth the wood. This will let you examine the wood to see how much of the shellac you have removed from the wood. The wood should look even and feel smooth to the touch. This step applies to sanding done using both a power sander and handheld sandpaper.
Then clean up your workstation and store well the re-usable tools and materials. Were you able to remove every trace of shellac from your piece of wood? If your answer is yes, congratulations! You can either repeat the sanding process or use denatured alcohol in the steps we have discussed above. The safety of the wood underneath shellac lies in your hands. Once you get the hang of it, you can use this method to strip stains and varnishes from your wood.
The chemical strippers can come in liquid form or gel-like form. The gel-like stripper suits both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Liquid chemical strippers are best used on horizontal surfaces.
The only disadvantage of using a chemical stripper to get rid of shellac and any other paints, stains, or varnishes from wood is its health respiratory system hazards, and environmental dangers. Hence, use chemical strippers as a last resort. The question you should answer before going down this path is, is it worth it? Have you exhausted all other options? Step 1: Ensure the workstation is well-ventilated -preferably outdoors. Wear your gloves, goggles and respirator to protect your body.
Step 2: Apply a thick coat chemical stripper on the shellac using a paintbrush. Go for two shellac coating to be sure you have applied enough. Step 3: Let it work its magic for about half an hour or for as long as the manufacturer states. Step 4: Use a putty knife to test a small area if the shellac loosened and is ready to come off.
Step 5: Gently scrape in the direction of the wood grain to lift off the loosened shellac from the wood. Remove all the old finish as much as you can.
Also, take extra precautions not to gouge the wood. Step 6: Use a ball of fine-grade steel wool to remove shellac coating from hard-to-reach curves and corners of the wood. You only need to apply light pressure in a circular motion.
