Why do i wish i lived in the past

Also despite my Catholic families ideals I am more than a walking womb and would hate to live in a time everyone thought that. And you know the whole lobotomy, pysch ward, ECT risk options. Also before the 60's we were still being displaced while hydro destroyed what was left of our tokens after they got rid of us, and I am only Metis.

Mental illness awareness wasnt what it is today neither was other social issues. I pretty much concur with scienceguy. And most of the rest of you for that matter.

I have the warm fuzzies for I think of that as the year before my life started down the path towards sh! I was probably happier during the summer of '77 than I've ever been, before or since. The Vietnam war was behind us, civil rights were being promoted and people seemed to be much more upbeat. Of course the majority of the humans on earth were suffering miserably in '77, just as they are now, But for me, it was a very good year.

Totally with you!! Even though today it seems to be heading back full circle!! Yes all the time. Im in the wrong time warp because nothing is working out the way it should. The basic theme is I would rather be anywhere else at any other time era than right now as anyone but me. Yes and no, if only for the fact the 60s were my time of innocence. But it was emotional hell for me being dragged around my narcissistic adopted mother and her incessant abuse, about which I was powerless to do a damn thing.

I'm grateful I at least had Dad and my stepmother to counter some of it, if only a few times a year. When I came of age in the 70s, having narrowly escaped the draft, I also escaped NM's clutches and, with Dad's help, was able to pursue my dreams in recording engineering and broadcasting and reclaim some self-esteem, right into the 80s, though I had to remain closeted for the most part. At least his carefully-planned legacy made it possible for me to realize many of my dreams in the 90s.

And now I've lived only a few months longer than Dad did. I feel completely lost in this uncharted territory at a time when I've particularly needed Dad's guidance even 34 years on. Now in my mids, with no familial support and having lost so much of my health to exhaustion, I've largely lost the will to live. Things certainly seemed better in the 80s and 90s growing up.

It's been a lifetime of abuse but maybe I just became more bitter over time. I got tired of being beat up by the world. It's hard. Were things different or was it just an illusion because different things were allowed to be on tv back then compared to now. If I watch the tv of now it's filled with complete lies about the world.

It's nothing like they want us to believe and that's probably always been the case. The truth is over my lifetime the world probably hasn't really changed much. Years ago they would have put me away somewhere because of who I am. Now all they have really done is come up with other reasons to put me away for who I am. As a student of history.

As a strange person. Late 15th century pls. Fashion is ok. Eyeglasses exist. Depression still sucks, but at least I have this new technology - hosen with a codpiece! Conjoined into I dream about different eras It would have been disease ridden and full of dangers I'm sure. You were lucky to live to 40 back in those times. I still had optimism and I had yet to discover alcohol. I see that I already answered above. Fortunately, popped up in both posts.

I would love to live in the s and s, when people were less superficial compared to now. Life was simpler. I would accept having no Internet. Internet all over the place is a blessing and a curse. For me, however, it seems like a curse. You need to be a member in order to leave a comment. Sign up for a new account in our community. It's easy!

Try telling a story about the future and see if anyone will listen to you. Then, try out an ongoing present-tense commentary and see how long friends stick around. Life stories captivate and good life stories are told again and again.

Indeed, the greatest life stories that people tell are very well-rehearsed as other people naturally want to listen. But no one likes to hear the same story twice. Even great stories can be boring the second time around. Life is like a really well-written story. There is a setting, characters, and a plot as well as a beginning, middle, and an end. Some people have truly great life-stories, while others, in fact most people, have life stories that resemble Little Golden Book tales like, Bunny Finds a Home or The Wait-for-Me Kitten.

They replay the same plot over and over again in their lives, sometimes commissioning different people to play different characters their life story or moving to different locations to mix up the setting a bit. But ultimately, people do tend to dwell on the same plot over and over again.

They live in the past repeating the same storyline because the past feels safe, the past is predictable, and the past is quite comfortable compared to the alternative. But what about people who have had unpleasant past plots play out in their lives?

The truth is that all of us have most likely reincarnated, however, some of us have gone through this cycle more than others and therefore experience many of the following characteristics:. Many people claim to have experienced certain events, seen particular people or gone to specific places frequently in their dreams that feel very familiar , and somehow recognizable. For example, I often have recurring dreams of a 15th century castle that I have a distinct feeling of knowing very well, yet I have never seen or been to this castle before in waking life.

There are many recorded instances of young children who have out-of-place memories that later prove to be oddly accurate in detail. While out-of-place memories could be due to simple fantasies, misunderstandings or an incongruency in the ability to remember, there is mounting evidence that suggests out-of-place memories could reveal connections to past lives. Intuition is the ability to balance the conscious and unconscious mind and to tap into our deeper wellsprings of primal wisdom and innate knowledge.

Empaths absorb the emotions, and in some instances the physical pains, of those around them literally empathizing , or directly feeling and experiencing what others experience. In this article about Empaths I go into greater depth about this unique breed of people. Precognition can be experienced through visions, physical sensations and feelings as well as in dreams.

While considered quasi-scientific by some, to others precognition is a very real experience and could indicate the maturation of soulful energy. You probably guessed it!

Retrocognition is the opposite of the above precognition , and refers to the ability to obtain information not usually available about past events. These past events could be in your own lifetime, or sometime in the distant past. Of course, retrocognition unlike precognition is not easy to prove or verify, however, for those who have genuinely experienced it and have been able to honestly verify it , this ability could also be a sign of soulful reincarnation.

For example: if you have reincarnated few times on earth, this would be reflected in the age of your energy, and in this life you will display many primitive and child-like characteristics. If, however, your soulful energy has reincarnated many times over, you will display many matured and wizened characteristics such as the ones mentioned in this article.

If you feel older than your age reflects you might be a Mature or Old Soul. For instance, you may have an inexplicable affinity to Asian culture, Celtic artifacts, or the 19th century. Whether this is true, or is simply a form of problem bypassing , many believe that we can experience the echoes of past traumas in our own lifetimes in the form of unexplainable fears and phobias.

Examples can include: the fear of drowning, the fear of certain types of animals, the fear of certain places, the fear of particular numbers, colors, objects, and so forth. In the same manner, Souls that have reincarnated many times over express this basic need for finally completing the cycle and returning home.

Feeling that this earth is not your home is often accompanied by chronic feelings of tiredness and wariness for life on earth. Could you relate to any of these signs? Do you have any of your own to share? I hope, if anything, this article could offer you another doorway of explanation for what you experience in life.
